Today in gifted we worked on tessalations. a tessaltion is a shape that is repeated over and over and over... with no gaps or overlapping. at first we had two sheeets of paper that had different shapes on it for us to choose from. then after we chose a shape we liked, we cut it out and traced it again and again and again.......... and then once we traced them, we cut them out and put them on a different sheet of paper. when we get done with our shapes, we can color them to make a diffent picture with them! seems hard huh? hard, but SUPER fun! TESSALATIONS ROCK!!

seurat's pointillism- 4th grade

Seurrat's way of art is very complicated in many diffrent ways. The type of art he does is called pointillism. Pointillism is when you use very tiny dots to form an object on a painting. when we did are paintings we did it a little bit differently then seurat's paintings. We made pointillism on musical notes. there where diffrent choices of colers like orange, red, blue, and purple.the way we did it differently was that we did the dots with q-tips instead of what seurat used to do pointillism. Did you know that it took Seurat 2 years (1883-1884) to complete his most famous painting? It was called La Grande Jatte and it was huge-10 feet wide by 6 feet tall and is on display at the Art Institute of Chicago.
pointillism is very fun!!

Time Magazine Covers
Hey have you seen the Time Magazine site lately?
Today in gifted we worked on Time Magazine covers,we thought of something we would like to accomplish in the future.Like you could say the greatest photogragher or a cure for cancer! We drew a picture of ourselves and then added a headline, date, and other information that you usually find on the cover of Time magazine on to covers that we created ourselves. Check some samples of our work on the bulletin board outside of our classroom...and check teh blog soon for a slide show of our work.
