Third Grade Gifted's First Day

we learnd a little chess and played some games we made paper sheilds about our selfs and started a new prodject called Weslandia. We will be creating our very own civilizations. We work with a partner to come up with our civilzation. We brainstorm names, and came up with different elements of our civlizations such as: language, shelter, crop, art, music, location, clothing, games, sports, and lots more. We got great ideas from a book that we read called "Weslandia" by Paul Fleischman.

Welcome back Superheroes!

I hope everyone had a super summer! I missed you all! What an incredible year we have ahead of us! Here is the schedule for classes: Wednesday- 3rd grade, Thursday - 5th grade, Friday- 4th grade. Gifted classes will start on Monday, August 29th. Please remind your child to report to their homeroom teacher before coming to gifted class. Each child needs a lunch, a snack, gifted folder(provided by us), and a composition book. Please don't forget to send a snack each day. Our lunch time is 11:30-12:00. Students will go back to their classes prior to dismissal. Can't wait to see everyone!

The Secret of Saying Thanks...projects

Our May Book of the Month is The Secret of Saying Thanks by Douglas Wood.   Here is the "secret" if you don't already know..."The heart that gives thanks is a happy one, for we cannot feel thankful and unhappy at the same time.  The more we say thanks, the more we find to be thankful for.  And the more we find to be thankful for, the happier we become.We don't give thanks because we are happy.  We are happy because we give thanks."

Iditarod adventure

Today in class we finished our glogs(seen below)about the Iditarod.the Iditarod is a dog race in alaska fron Anchrage to nome and 1,151 miles long and started in the early 1900`s.

Awesome Iditarod Research

In gifted we have been doing research on the Iditorod race & mushers.
The students have been making Iditarod games & glogsters.
It is so exciting to learn about the mushers & their sled dogs.
We have been doing worksheets on the Iditarod.
It has been one of the funnest things we have been learning about.
