Detective Work



Today we started detective work. We went around the room looking for fingerprints, footprints, and notes. We talked about what it takes to be a detective. We had fun being detectives.

Pointilism

Pointilism is a very fun and small art tequnique that involves very small dots. You can use a que tip to do it. If you use a tooth pick it will take a VERY long time to finish. Georges seurat used pointilism for his paintings. Pointilism is painting pictures using very small dots. Today 4th grade gifted had to use this tequnique to paint pictures. It took a long time but we eventualy finished.

Today we refreshed our minds about 9/11 and how tragic it was and read a book called 14 Cows for America and made a Tagxedo. A tagxedo is Basicly A wordle. we made one on 9/11 .we also pladed chess some of us relinquished on a little of our skills but got back used to it near the end of the chess games. Today the students assighnment was making a puff mobiles made by 4 beads,5 straws,a piece of paper,and 5-7 pins.The purpose of this project was to work together in groups and try to make a successful mobile that will go the farthest.

Third Grade Gifted's First Day


we learnd a little chess and played some games we made paper sheilds about our selfs and started a new prodject called Weslandia. We will be creating our very own civilizations. We work with a partner to come up with our civilzation. We brainstorm names, and came up with different elements of our civlizations such as: language, shelter, crop, art, music, location, clothing, games, sports, and lots more. We got great ideas from a book that we read called "Weslandia" by Paul Fleischman.

Welcome back Superheroes!


I hope everyone had a super summer! I missed you all! What an incredible year we have ahead of us! Here is the schedule for classes: Wednesday- 3rd grade, Thursday - 5th grade, Friday- 4th grade. Gifted classes will start on Monday, August 29th. Please remind your child to report to their homeroom teacher before coming to gifted class. Each child needs a lunch, a snack, gifted folder(provided by us), and a composition book. Please don't forget to send a snack each day. Our lunch time is 11:30-12:00. Students will go back to their classes prior to dismissal. Can't wait to see everyone!
