videostreaming from the cummer museum
Today we got to go to the media center and see the Cummer Museum without going there! We saw a panting that was a cityscape. We saw a boy flying a kite. There were a lot of sail boats. We do not no why. There was a kid spining a wooden hoop. Then we aksed some quetions and then went back into are classroom. -James
I thought that I would add on a bit to what James wrote about in his blog post, which is very good already. I am so proud of the profound insights that these fantastic third graders shared during our videoconference with the Cummer Museum. For those of you who may not know, we were so fortunate to have the opportunity to chat live with a docent at the Cummer, while never even setting foot outside of Chets Creek. We took part in this conference as a follow up to the field trip that we took to the Cummer Museum last week. While sitting in the comfort of out media center, we spoke back and forth with a wonderful docent who stood in the museum and shared a work of art with us. As James mentioned, she shared a beautiful painting of a cityscape in the Netherlands. The painting included many small details which we discussed throughout the videoconference. We spent time looking at the painting and posing questions about it to our docent, who answered them very well. We plan to spend some time over the next couple of weeks researching more about some of the questions that came about in regard to this painting. Stay tuned! Mrs. Zawis

The First Day of Gifted
Today was the first day of gifted. We started practicing our musical called Top 40. It was so so so much fun! We did something called Riddle Rebus. For Creative Expresson, we painted a picture like Van Gogh's Starry Night. We drew with yellow and white and then painted navy blue over it. Did you know that Van Gogh cut off his ear? Do you know what he did with it? Why don't you google "Van Gogh" and find out. It was an awesome day!! Check back next week...
